Removalists in Lavender Bay
A natural amphitheatre, and every street in it slopes.
Lavender Bay curves around a small inlet beside Luna Park, its streets falling steeply from the ridge at North Sydney down to the water. Heritage terraces, apartment blocks and a handful of grand houses share streets with very little flat ground and even less parking.

- The main constraint
- Gradient. Almost every street drops steeply towards the bay, so trolleys are hard work and many front doors sit above or below the road down a flight of steps.
- Building stock
- Victorian and Federation terraces, interwar apartment blocks and newer harbour-view buildings. Houses facing the water often have no direct vehicle access.
- Event traffic
- Luna Park events and summer weekends fill the lower streets quickly. We check for events on your date and plan the start time around them.
- How we handle it
- We send a truck that can stop on a slope safely, crew the job for the steps, and start early on the lower streets.
- Typical job
- Two and three-bedroom terraces or apartments, often with artwork and collected furniture. Usually a full day on the steeper streets.
- On-site quotes
- Free, and recommended for any address below the ridge. The approach from the kerb is most of the job.
On a slope, nothing rolls the right way.
On the flat, a loaded trolley does most of the work. On Lavender Bay's streets it takes two people to control it, and a heavy piece can't go on a trolley at all. Everything becomes a carry, and carries take longer and need more people.
That isn't a reason to worry. It's a reason to plan the crew properly. We look at the gradient between the door and the truck when we quote, and if the slope calls for an extra person, they are in the estimate from the start.
- 01 Gradient and steps checked before quoting
- 02 Crew sized for carries, not trolleys
- 03 Truck position chosen for a safe stop
- 04 Luna Park event dates checked
- 05 Heritage floors and stairwells protected
- 06 Artwork and fine furniture wrapped by hand
01 Our street is very steep. Does that make the move more expensive?
It usually adds time, because carries replace trolleys. We put that into the estimate when we quote, so you see the real number up front rather than finding out at the end of the day.
02 Is there a problem moving on a Luna Park event day?
It can make the lower streets slow and parking scarce. We check your date when you book, and if there is an event we start early or suggest a different day.
03 We have a lot of artwork. How do you handle it?
Framed works are wrapped in blankets and corner protection, and anything of real value or fragility is assessed separately and crated where needed.
04 How is the price worked out?
Hourly, with your rate locked in writing and an honest estimate of the hours. The gradient, the steps and the distance to the truck are all in the estimate.
05 Do you cover McMahons Point and Milsons Point?
Yes, along with Kirribilli, North Sydney and the rest of the Lower North Shore.

We've used Sydney Relocators twice now for house and office moves. Ansul talks you through exactly how the job will run before he starts, so there are no surprises on the day.

Ansul and the team were professional and clearly knew what they were doing, right down to reassembling the furniture at the other end. Easily the best removalist I've used in Sydney.
Neha S.
The crew turned up right on time and worked hard the whole way through. They were careful with the building's walls and lifts, and wrapped every piece of furniture properly.
Shweta A.
A genuinely stress-free move from start to finish. The team was professional and efficient, and even helped us pick up an extra piece of furniture along the way.
Amin B.
Second time booking Sydney Relocators and it was outstanding again. Ansul and his crew kept everything smooth and organised — we'll be calling them for the next move too.

I spent hours comparing companies before booking — a lot of the '5-star' ones had a pattern of one-star complaints about damage once you dug in. Ansul and Vishal were a different standard entirely.
Dipankar C.
Used them again for our latest move and they were excellent as always. Ansul's team disassembled and reassembled every piece of furniture with real care — the workmanship is second to none.
Ramakrishnan N.
Moved us from Parramatta to Stanhope Gardens and the service was outstanding throughout. The team was punctual, professional, and particularly skilled at dismantling and reassembling furniture.
