Removalists in Neutral Bay
Most of the work happens before the front door.
Neutral Bay is dense with three and four storey walk-ups built long before anyone thought about lifts. Whatever is on the second floor is coming down by hand, and that is the number that has to be in the quote rather than discovered on the day.
Moving in Neutral Bay.
- The main constraint
- Stairs. A large share of Neutral Bay stock is interwar walk-up apartments of three or four storeys with no lift, often with a half-landing turn that a two-seater sofa will not clear.
- How we handle it
- We ask which floor and whether there is a lift before quoting anything. Where the stair run is long we add a crew member rather than a surcharge, so the job still finishes inside the day.
- Typical job
- One and two bedroom apartments, frequently first-time movers or downsizers coming off the peninsula. Half a day to a full day.
- Parking
- Military Road is a clearway through the peak and has nowhere legal to stand a truck. We work from the side streets and, where the building fronts Military Road, start early.
- Building rules
- Some of the larger blocks now have strata rules about move-in times and require a certificate of currency. We provide ours on request, before the booking.
- On-site quotes
- Free, and worth it for anything above the ground floor. Two minutes looking at the staircase is the difference between a quote that holds and one that does not.
We count the stairs before we count the boxes.
An interwar block in Neutral Bay usually has a generous staircase by the standards of the day and a mean one by ours. The turn at the half-landing is the problem: a three-seater sofa that walks straight up a modern flight has to be stood on its end and pivoted, and sometimes it simply does not go.
We would rather know that when we quote. Occasionally the answer is that a wardrobe comes apart, or a balcony lift is the sensible route. Either way it is a conversation beforehand, not an argument in a stairwell.
- 01 Floor level and lift confirmed before quoting
- 02 Extra crew where the stair run is long
- 03 Furniture dismantled and rebuilt as required
- 04 Early starts for Military Road addresses
- 05 Certificate of currency provided for strata
- 06 Storage where settlement dates do not align
01 I am on the third floor with no lift. Does that cost more?
It costs time rather than a penalty. A long stair carry slows every trip, so we either allow for it in the hours or put an extra pair of hands on. Both are priced in the quote you accept, not added afterwards.
02 Can you park on Military Road?
Not during clearway hours, and not comfortably at any time. We load from a side street where one is near, and where the building fronts Military Road directly we start early while the kerb is still workable.
03 Will my sofa fit up the stairs?
Usually, but not always in one piece. Tell us the building and the floor when we quote and we will tell you honestly whether anything is likely to need dismantling.
04 Do you cover Cremorne, Kirribilli and Cammeray?
Yes, and the rest of the Lower North Shore. The building stock is much the same across the peninsula, so the same planning applies.
Moving in Neutral Bay?
Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift, and we can give you a figure that will still be right on the day.
