Removalists in Surry Hills
No driveway, no lift, and a staircase with a turn in it.
Surry Hills is the most access-constrained suburb we work in regularly. Every job here is solved before the truck leaves the depot, because there is no room to improvise once it arrives.

- The main constraint
- Street parking. Almost no Surry Hills terrace has off-street parking, and most streets are narrow, one-way, or under a City of Sydney resident scheme.
- Permits
- City of Sydney issues temporary works and parking permits for removals. On most Surry Hills addresses these are worth arranging in advance.
- Staircases
- Victorian terrace staircases are narrow with a turn at the top. Large upholstered pieces frequently need dismantling or a first-floor window exit.
- Warehouse conversions
- Converted buildings often have a small original lift with a low weight limit, or no lift at all above the second floor. We check dimensions before the day.
- Truck size
- Smaller trucks and two loads frequently beat one large truck that cannot get down the street. We work out which is genuinely faster.
- Timing
- Early starts avoid the inner-city commuter traffic and give the best chance of a legal stop outside the door.
The sofa is the question, not the truck.
The most common Surry Hills problem is a modern deep-seat sofa in a terrace whose staircase turns ninety degrees at the landing. It came in before the balustrade was replaced, or it came in through a window, and neither fact is recorded anywhere.
Send photographs of the large pieces and of the staircase when you book. We will tell you in advance whether it comes apart, goes out a window, or needs a hoist — rather than discovering it with a truck double-parked.

01 There is nowhere to park on my street. What happens?
We plan it rather than discover it. Depending on the street that means a temporary City of Sydney permit, which you arrange with the council, an early start before the street fills, or a smaller truck that can legally stop closer. Which one applies is settled before the day, not on it.
02 Will my sofa fit down the stairs?
Send a photograph of the piece and of the staircase and we will tell you before the day. Options are usually dismantling, a first-floor window exit, or occasionally a hoist. All are assessed in advance.
03 My building is a warehouse conversion with a tiny lift.
Common here. Give us the internal dimensions and the weight limit and we plan around it, which may mean carrying the large pieces and using the lift only for cartons.
04 Do you cover Darlinghurst, Redfern and Chippendale?
Yes, along with Paddington, Alexandria, Waterloo and the rest of the inner city.

We've used Sydney Relocators twice now for house and office moves. Ansul talks you through exactly how the job will run before he starts, so there are no surprises on the day.
Sudheer S.
Ansul and the team were professional and clearly knew what they were doing, right down to reassembling the furniture at the other end. Easily the best removalist I've used in Sydney.
Neha S.
The crew turned up right on time and worked hard the whole way through. They were careful with the building's walls and lifts, and wrapped every piece of furniture properly.
Shweta A.
A genuinely stress-free move from start to finish. The team was professional and efficient, and even helped us pick up an extra piece of furniture along the way.
Amin B.
Second time booking Sydney Relocators and it was outstanding again. Ansul and his crew kept everything smooth and organised — we'll be calling them for the next move too.
Matthew M.
I spent hours comparing companies before booking — a lot of the '5-star' ones had a pattern of one-star complaints about damage once you dug in. Ansul and Vishal were a different standard entirely.
Dipankar C.
Used them again for our latest move and they were excellent as always. Ansul's team disassembled and reassembled every piece of furniture with real care — the workmanship is second to none.
Ramakrishnan N.
Moved us from Parramatta to Stanhope Gardens and the service was outstanding throughout. The team was punctual, professional, and particularly skilled at dismantling and reassembling furniture.
