Removalists in Elizabeth Bay
Art-deco buildings with small lifts and strict rules.
Elizabeth Bay is one of Sydney's densest suburbs, a curve of art-deco and mid-century apartment buildings running down from Macleay Street to the harbour. The buildings are handsome and well run, the lifts are often small, and the streets are narrow and fully parked.

- The main constraint
- Small lifts and narrow streets. Many art-deco buildings have lifts too small for large furniture, and the streets have little room to stop.
- Building stock
- 1920s and 1930s art-deco apartment buildings, mid-century blocks and some newer buildings.
- Building rules
- Most buildings need a booked lift, a certificate of currency and protected common areas. Some have set move times.
- Parking
- City of Sydney permit zones apply throughout. We check the rules for your street before the day and tell you what, if anything, needs arranging with council.
- Typical job
- One and two-bedroom apartments, often with art and collected furniture. Half a day to a full day.
- Stairs
- Where the lift can't take a piece, it goes by the stairs. We plan the crew for that from the start.
An art-deco lift isn't a service lift.
Many Elizabeth Bay buildings have original or early lifts, often with small cars and old-style doors. They are beautiful, and they don't fit a three-seater sofa.
We ask for the lift's measurements, or a photo with a tape measure in it, when we quote. If large pieces have to go by the stairs, the crew and the hours are planned that way, and the stairwell is protected first.
- 01 Lift size checked when we quote
- 02 Stair carries planned for large pieces
- 03 Certificate of currency sent in advance
- 04 Common areas and stairwells protected
- 05 Permit requirements checked
- 06 Art and collected furniture wrapped by hand
01 Will my furniture fit in the lift?
Send the lift's internal measurements and the dimensions of your largest pieces. We'll tell you what goes by lift and what goes by stairs.
02 My building has set move times. Can you work to them?
Yes. Tell us the window and we will plan the crew so the time is used properly.
03 Do I need a parking permit?
Usually. Send the address and we will tell you.
04 How is the price worked out?
Hourly, with your rate locked in writing and an estimate based on the lift, stairs and volume.
05 Do you cover Potts Point and Rushcutters Bay?
Yes, along with Darlinghurst, Darling Point and the surrounding area.

We've used Sydney Relocators twice now for house and office moves. Ansul talks you through exactly how the job will run before he starts, so there are no surprises on the day.

Ansul and the team were professional and clearly knew what they were doing, right down to reassembling the furniture at the other end. Easily the best removalist I've used in Sydney.
Neha S.
The crew turned up right on time and worked hard the whole way through. They were careful with the building's walls and lifts, and wrapped every piece of furniture properly.
Shweta A.
A genuinely stress-free move from start to finish. The team was professional and efficient, and even helped us pick up an extra piece of furniture along the way.
Amin B.
Second time booking Sydney Relocators and it was outstanding again. Ansul and his crew kept everything smooth and organised — we'll be calling them for the next move too.

I spent hours comparing companies before booking — a lot of the '5-star' ones had a pattern of one-star complaints about damage once you dug in. Ansul and Vishal were a different standard entirely.
Dipankar C.
Used them again for our latest move and they were excellent as always. Ansul's team disassembled and reassembled every piece of furniture with real care — the workmanship is second to none.
Ramakrishnan N.
Moved us from Parramatta to Stanhope Gardens and the service was outstanding throughout. The team was punctual, professional, and particularly skilled at dismantling and reassembling furniture.
